The Toyota Highlander Gets an All-New Engine for 2023
Toyota is giving customers more reasons to select the Highlander as their next car. For the 2023 model year, the popular SUV comes with an entirely new engine that delivers exceptional performance in a small package. The new 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine puts out 265 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It represents a considerable 17% improvement from the previous engine.
The 2023 Highlander with the new turbo engine has a starting price of $36,420, while the 2023 Highlander Hybrid has a starting price of $40,220. These vehicles will soon be available at University Toyota in Morgantown, WV.
You’ll experience the benefit of the new engine in normal driving conditions, particularly when the SUV is filled with passengers and cargo. Also impressive is the fact that the higher-torque engine offers excellent fuel efficiency. The 2023 Highlander has an EPA rating of 25 mpg combined.
The new Toyota Highlander turbo variants come with trailer sway control, which uses vehicle stability control to help control unintentional trailer movement. The vehicle can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The standard stop-and-start engine system enables the engine to shut off when the car comes to a complete stop. Then, the engine promptly restarts when the driver’s foot lifts off from the brake pedal, helping to minimize fuel consumption and emissions.
The L and LE trims of the new Toyota Highlander can accommodate up to eight individuals with its second-row bench. The XLE and Limited trims can fit up to seven passengers with a standard captain’s chair in the second row. You can also get an XLE Gas, XLE Hybrid, and Limited Gas models with a second-row bench. The Hybrid Bronze Edition, XSE, Limited Hybrid, and Platinum trims come with standard seven-passenger seating and a second-row captain’s chair.
Huge doors provide easy access to the cabin. A smart seat folding feature allows passengers to access the third row easily. A three-zone climate control system ensures ample warmed or cooled air flow to all passengers.
There’s plenty of space for carrying stuff as well. With all seats in use, the Highlander offers 16.0 cubic feet of space behind the third row. Folding the third-row seatbacks increases the space to 48.4 cubic feet. Folding the second row expands that space to 84.3 cubic feet. The versatile storage area makes the most of the extra length for maximum space utilization.
The new Toyota Highlander offers plush accommodations across all trim levels. It offers a luxury-crafted interior to create a premium ambiance. The SUV features lovely details that include soft materials and a refined look with stitching that extends from the door trim to the instrument panel. Insets on the steering wheel controls add a modern and luxurious touch.
The interior of the new Toyota Highlander employs the Takumi approach, a system that minimizes noises that interfere with conversations. Limited and Platinum trims, for example, have acoustic glass to isolate the driver from outside noise.
